ABOUT OUR CHURCH

OUR JOURNEY
Christian Assembly began in 1924 when Rev. Frank Frano brought the gospel message to Cleveland. In 1945 Rev. Samuel Lee received the call to the pastorate and during his tenure the German Lutheran church on E. 159th St was purchased. In 1953, Rev. James DiStaulo succeeded Rev. Lee and served as pastor until October 1965. In February of 1966, Rev. Michael Marino accepted the church's call to pastor. In 1968, the present building - in Richmond Heights - had its beginning. In July, 1975, ground was broken; in October 1978, the church building was dedicated. In 1985, additional educational facilities were added, including a multi-purpose/gymnasium. In 2009, Marc Saginario became the pastor and served for two years. Christian Assembly is pastored by Alan & Mary Schrader, who arrived in December 2012.
CORE VALUES
SCRIPTURE:
We believe and accept the entire Bible as the infallible Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit: the only perfect order of our faith and manner of living, to which nothing can be added or taken away, which is the power of God unto salvation to believers.
(2 Peter 1:21, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Romans 1:16)
THE ONE TRUE GOD:
We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.
(Ephesians 4:6, Matthew 28:19, 1 John 5:7)
SIN:
We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.
(Genesis 1:26-31 + 3:1-7, Romans 5:12-21)
THE SAVIOR:
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ as both God and man is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life.
(John 1:14, Luke 1:27-35, 1 Peter 3:18)
SALVATION:
We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and the ‘new birth’ we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives.
(Romans 3:24-25 + 8:16, Acts 20:21, John 3:5, 1 Corinthians 1:30)
WATER BAPTISM:
We believe that water baptism is a command for all believers, symbolizing our burial and new life in Christ. This is done by dipping a person under water once in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as Jesus instructed.”
(Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:4, Acts 10:47-48)
HOLY SPIRIT:
We believe that God intends for us to live fruitful and holy lives through the power of the Holy Spirit, enabling us to use spiritual gifts.
(Acts 2:4, 10:45-47, 19:6 + 1 Corinthians 12:1-11)
THE LORD’S SUPPER:
We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together for fellowship, prayer and the ‘breaking of bread’.
(Luke 22:19-20, 1 Corinthians 11:20)
SANCTIFICATION:
We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives, which is to worship God, fulfill our role in the Church and serve the community in which we live.
(Hebrews 6:1 + 12:14, Romans 8:13, 1 Corinthians 1:30)
HEALING:
We believe that God wants to heal and transform us so that we can live healthy and blessed lives and more effectively help others.
(James 5:14, Matthew 8:17, Isaiah 53)
ETERNAL DESTINY:
We believe that our eternal destination of either Heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Acts 24:15, Matthew 25:46)
JESUS’ RETURN:
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.
(John 14:2-3, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 + 5:9, 1 Corinthians 15:51-54)
STEWARDSHIP
We believe we are called to manage our God-given resources for His purposes. We serve Him with all of life, our time, our talents, and our tithe, which is joyfully giving one tenth of our finances to the local church as worship to God.
(Mattthew 23:23, Malachi 3:8-11, Luke 6:38, 2 Corinthians 9:6-8)
